Benj graduated from Brown University in 1978 with a Bachelor of Arts and from Columbia University in 1991 with a Masters of Business Administration.
Benj and his wife Robin live in Montebello, NY. They have 3 children.
Eric Shepard, VP/Executive Editor, joined Beer Marketer’s INSIGHTS in August 1977. He continues to research, write and edit that newsletter, published 23x per year, along with BMI’s other beer/alcohol beverage publications: INSIGHTS Express, a fax/e-mail newsletter that complements Beer Marketer’s INSIGHTS; Alcohol Issues INSIGHTS, a newsletter that covers policy issues and alcohol & health research and Craft Brew News. He prepares and edits BMI’s annual statistical publication, Beer Industry Update.
Eric resides with his wife in New City, NY. He is a lifetime resident of Rockland County, 20 miles north of NY City. He graduated Cornell University, with a BA in Liberal Arts. Eric has 2 sons, one of whom now works at Beer Marketer’s Insights.
Nadia Merhai joined Beer Marketer's Insights in 2016 with a diverse background in Public Relations, and owned her own consulting business for the past 10 years. Her work life included a fun mix of social media, marketing, blog writing, graphic design, digital print & web consulting. She hopes to further hone these skills to help Beer Marketer's publications, and to manage circulation.
Nadia currently resides in Suffern with her 3 loving children, and is planning her future with her significant other and his 2 wonderful boys. Nadia's daughter, Anji currently works part-time at BMI, assisting with administrative tasks.
Gerry Curley has been the Executive Assistant and Beer Marketer’s Insights for over 27 years. Prior to joining BMI, Gerry worked at IBM in Westchester/NYC. In the fast-paced frenzy of never-ending deadlines at our office, Gerry maintains a sharp focus and keeps order for the rest of us and always makes sure all the T’s are crossed and I’s are dotted on everything from planning our meetings, handling press requests and subscriber issues, travel, appointments and more. Gerry also enjoys getting to meet personally with so many of our loyal readers each year in New York at the Beer Insights Seminar.
Jim Sullivan is currently an editor with Beer Marketer’s Insights and a senior editor for our non-alcoholic beverage publication, Beverage Business Insights. Jim started out his journalistic career editing home decorating and improvement ideas with a large publishing co in Manhattan, so when the opportunity arose to write about the beer industry, you can guess it was not a difficult decision. Over the past 20 years he has enjoyed covering every nuance of an ever changing industry. Tracking how so many different brewers/brands are performing and competing against each other as well as how makes for interesting stories and analysis each day. The many personalities among family-run beer distributorships and how those small companies are continually consolidating with some growing into powerful corporations adds to the flavor and appeal of tracking what remains the most fun industry in the US.
Robin Steinman is the Treasurer of Beer Marketer’s Insights, and assists with marketing, circulation and office management. In addition to her work at BMI, Robin is a certified yoga instructor, teaching two classes per week. She has an MBA in Marketing and International Business from NYU, and a BA from UVa. Robin worked for American Express in Card Marketing and Product Development for 15 years. Her first job after college was for a small newsletter publisher. Robin married Benj in 1986 and they have 3 wonderful children.
Christopher Shepard is a Senior Editor of Craft Brew News and a contributing editor of Alcohol Issues Insights. Christopher is BMI’s resident home brewer and beer geek, and a talented actor and theater director. He graduated from Muhlenberg College with a degree in theater, dance and English.
Gerry Khermouch is the editor of Beverage Business Insights. He joined Beer Marketer’s Insights in 2004, launching BBI, the twice-a-week trade e-letter offering inside information on the non-alcoholic beverage industry: new products, acquisitions and alliances, executive moves, with a major emphasis on emerging segments such as energy drinks, enhanced waters, functional beverages and superfruit juices. BBI is the go-to resource in this realm for marketers, distributors and capital-side people while breaking major stories on moves by Coca-Cola, PepsiCo, Nestle and Anheuser-Busch to better penetrate this realm. He also contributes articles to Craft Brew News. Gerry works virtually from the Upper West Side of Manhattan. Past positions include Managing Editor of The Electricity Journal, Associate Editor of Businessweek (for 3 years), and Editor of Brandweek (for 7 years).
